Turkey's Most Popular Film Opens Fest

After a successful 2014 run, Turkish Film Festivals USA returns to Miami from Tuesday, Oct. 13 through Thursday, Oct.15. Screenings are at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. All screenings are free.

Opening the festival will be The Miracle, a masterpiece by world-renowned director Mahsun Kirmizigul. Turkey¹s most popular film in 2015 is based on the real life of a teacher (Mahir), who changes the life of a solitary village in the east side of the country and still lives there.

To celebrate the Miami premiere, the festival will be welcoming Director Mahsun Kirmizigul, actor Talat Bulut, and producer Murat Tokat.

On Wednesday, Coming Soon, tells the story of Zafer, a low grade criminal that decides to change his life of crime and become a filmmaker; followed by The Husband Factor, a film that depicts the funny adventures on Efsun, a young woman who still believes in love.

Closing the festival will be Sivas, which follows an eleven-year-old boy (Aslan) and a weathered fighting dog (Sivas) that develop a strong relationship after Aslan finds Sivas wounded in a ditch. Circumstances will usher Aslan to an unexpected crash-course into adulthood, leaving his childhood behind, Directed by Kaan Mujdeci, Sivas has won awards around the world including the "Special Jury Prize" at the Venice Film Festival. This film features staged dog fighting scenes, however no animals were harmed in the making of this film. Director Kaan Mujdeci will be at the screening.
