Dear Mayor &
Commissioners:
The mission of the
Miami Beach Arts Trust (MBAT) is to ensure that our
community continues to foster an environment where
diverse artists, artistic programs and cultural venues
thrive. In an attempt to build public support and
awareness for the arts, we work in collaboration with
other groups in providing relevant community-specific
information, and encouraging the public to participate
in our efforts. It is for that reason that MBAT formally
endorses the New World Symphony in its proposal of
expansion and request of public funding.
The New World Symphony is a true
community partner; we are proud to have the privilege of
hosting this tremendous institution within our city. The
Campus Expansion Project will not only further enhance
our community’s ability to bring emerging musicians from
around the globe into our community, it will also bring
an iconic landmark by world-renowned architect Frank
Gehry. The plans for this facility assure us that the
building will provide new ways of engaging audiences and
incorporate the local community. Additionally, we
believe that the landmark building will serve as an
economic stimulus and further establish our reputation
as a world-class city.
We thank you for considering our
letter of support for the Campus Expansion Project of
the New World Symphony and hope that you will consider
passage of the much-needed public funding that will
ultimately serve as a remarkable community investment.
