Creative Arts Enterprises Presents Hannah Free
Story by Mary Damiano
Photos by Harvey Burstein

Creative Arts Enterprises presented their first full-length production of the year, Hannah Free, at the Miami Globo Theatre in Little Havana August 12-28. Other CAE productions this years have included Varla Jean Merman’s Under a Big Top in May at the Byron Carlyle and the third annual Lavender Footlights Festival held September 16-17 at the Dot 51 Gallery in the Miami Design District.

Hannah Free was presented as a staged reading at the first Lavender Footlights Festival in 2003. CAE is the only arts organization in South Florida dedicated to gay and lesbian theatre and entertainment.

Hannah Free, by renowned Chicago playwright Claudia Allen, tells the story of a two women who have been in love their whole lives. Now, confined to their hospital beds just down the hall from one another, a disapproving family keeps them from being together.
