E-zine Seeks Short Fiction by South Florida Writers
MiamiARTzine.com is currently seeking submissions of unpublished short fiction. Any South Florida writer is encouraged to submit their work. MiamiARTzine.com is presented by the Miami Beach Arts Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising the awareness of the arts in South Florida and nurturing the voices of those involved in the arts. That said, we cannot pay monetarily, but writers would have a chance to have their work seen by our 4,000-plus subscribers and count it as a publication credit.

Guidelines:
The submission process is open to residents of South Florida
Stories should be 2500 words or less
Stories must be sent as an rtf (rich text format) attachment in 12pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced, with one inch margins and the words "Fiction Submission" in the subject line

As MiamiARTzine.com is open to anyone who subscribes or logs on, stories must not have any graphic sex or excessive profanity

Writers should include a brief, 100 word publication history/bio
Writers must include name, address and phone number for contact purposes
Stories must be e-mailed to Mary Damiano, editor, StarrWriter2000@aol.com
Writers will be contacted if their story is chosen for publication.

Arts Writers Wanted
Writers needed for MiamiARTzine.com.  We need writers who are interested in covering the Miami/South Florida arts scene. We're eager to cover people and events that don't get as much coverage as well as the big splashy arts events. This is a perfect opportunity for journalism students and up and coming writers to increase their portfolios, get experience, have their work be seen and make contacts. We need people who can write with some flair, who are punctual, who communicate with their editor, who answer e-mails promptly, and who can turn around a story in 7-10 days. The ability to take and transmit digital photos is a plus. Writers should have a working knowledge of the arts and be comfortable with interviews. Writers are always encouraged to pitch stories that would fit the target and mission of the e-zine. Please, please, please: Only reply if you're serious about your work. We don’t have time to deal with writers who wouldn't know a deadline if it bit them and who don't contact their editor when a story falls through. We’re only interested in working with writers who understand and practice professionalism. As the e-zine is produced by a non-profit organization, compensation will be in experience, clips and perks, including press credentials and entry into events. If you are interested and meet the above criteria, please reply with a brief e-mail about your background, your contact info, resume and a few samples of your writing.
E-mail StarrWriter2000@aol.com.

Dates vary according to the scheduled activities. With volunteers, we could conduct many more of our famed “Instant-Art” sessions, but we are limited financially. We work with a 501(c)3 (The Knowledge College people) but we have no staff—or finances—to develop and maintain grant proposals, as much as the grant people wanted to help us this year.

Office help is needed to prepare for community services rendered (13-week half-hour TV shows on Cable-Tap, for instance). We won the Miami Herald Business Makeover last year, but no financial or business person came to our rescue. All we got were constant requests for our successful lessons, from condos, old age homes, etc.

Miami Performing Arts Center
Volunteer at MPAC and Embark on an Exciting Adventure!

Miami Performing Arts Center
Miami Performing Arts Center

Central to the successful operation of any large performing arts center is a dedicated volunteers team, and Miami Performing Arts Center is already putting together a corps of hard-working, arts-loving individuals who will help the Center become one of the most important cultural institutions in the Americas. Volunteers will play a leading role in making MPAC a favorite venue for patrons to experience the finest performances from around the world. As the MPAC representatives with the most direct contact with audience members, volunteers will know first-hand what audiences are feeling and saying. That knowledge will be invaluable as the Center does everything it can to ensure that the time these patrons spend at the Center will be thrilling and memorable.  MPAC Volunteer Corps will be a true reflection of our wonderfully diverse community, composed of a wide variety of people with different backgrounds, assorted interests, and unique skills.

Opportunities for volunteering at the Center encompass many areas, from performing clerical duties in administrative offices during the day to ushering at performances in the evenings. MPAC will also be looking for volunteers to provide concierge services, edit and translate documents, greet visitors, check-in bags and umbrellas, serve on advocacy committees, and offer counseling and mentoring to other volunteers. In an international city such as Miami, knowing more than one language, while not a requirement for all volunteer positions, is especially helpful.

To find out more about the many opportunities for volunteering at MPAC, please contact Evelyn Gigiras at 305-579-7632 or volunteers@miamipac.org.
