There's a new rock musical coming to the Arsht Center and it's featuring students from the University of Miami's Department of Theatre Arts. It's Girls Vs. Boys, written by the founding members of
Girls Vs Boys - Photo Credit Justin Namonthe outstanding House Theatre of Chicago. That's the same team that wrote the terrific The Sparrow. Directed by JV Mercanti, Girls vs. Boys “follows 14 hot blooded teenage students as they jump start their senior year in high school...the soul baring score of throbbing rock, punk, metal and more illuminates the high stakes, life and death game of sex that no one is prepared for”. A mask is required but a black tie is optional at the Masquerade in the Gardens, Saturday November 3. If you're up for glitter and glamor, food and drinks, music and dancing, hie on down to Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 Red Road. It's a benefit for the Gardens and $150 will let you join the fun from 7 to 11 pm. The Debbie Orta Ensemble and Thania Sanz will perform and the Continental Brass Band will play for dancing. Zoo Miami is holding its Ribfest this weekend and you can satisfy your craving for the best barbecue, country music and rock and roll. Venezuelan triple threat Migguel Anggelo will be singing, dancing and acting with a full string ensemble in Strings + Stories, dramatic musical tales, at Miami Beach's New World Center, Thursday, November 8 at 7.30 pm.
