Miami Beach Dance Festival March 24 to April 2

And the festivals continue.  Dance companies from all over will descend on Miami Beach for the Miami Beach Dance Festival, which will held at the Byron Carlyle Theatre, March 24 to April 2.

“The Miami Beach Dance Festival is designed to show the full extent of creativity and talent in South Florida’s dance community and to highlight international artistic partnerships,” said Delma Iles, artistic director of Momentum Dance Company and the director of the 2^nd Annual Miami Beach Dance Festival.

Many local companies, including Momentum Dance Company, the Dance Now Ensemble, Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, and Florida Dance Theatre, will be joined by the National Dance Company of the Bahamas and The Lula Washington Dance Company from Los Angeles, California to bring audiences the best in innovative dance. 

In addition to the performances, the 10-day festival will feature master classes, evening screenings of classic dance films, and a panel discussion of the role of arts in community development.

Saturday, March 25
Dance Now Ensemble and Momentum Dance Company in concert, 8 p.m, Byron Carlyle Theater. Tickets $20 general admission, $10 students and seniors

Sunday, March 26
Ballet Flamenco La Rosa and National Dance Company of the Bahamas in concert, 7 p.m., Byron Carlyle Theater. Tickets $20 general admission, $10 students and seniors

Monday, March 27
Festival master classes with local and international master teachers, location and times. TBA

Tuesday, March 28
Community Dance Film Night, North Shore Community Center Bandshell, 7275 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach (no venue phone) at 7 p.m. Fred Astaire in two classic dance films, Flying Down To Rio and Top Hat, plus ballroom dance exhibition. Admission: minimum donation $1.

Wednesday, March 29
Flamenco Cabaret evening with Ballet Flamenco La Rosa. Admission $10.  Location TBA, 8 p.m., All tickets $15, includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Thursday, March 30
Panel Discussion: Arts and Community Redevelopment with Lula Washington and Dana Nottingham, moderated by Bernard Zyscovich. Other panelists and location TBA.
