Dates vary according to the scheduled activities. With volunteers, we could conduct many more of our famed “Instant-Art” sessions, but we are limited financially. We work with a 501(c)3 (The Knowledge College people) but we have no staff—or finances—to develop and maintain grant proposals, as much as the grant people wanted to help us this year.

Office help is needed to prepare for community services rendered (13-week half-hour TV shows on Cable-Tap, for instance). We won the Miami Herald Business Makeover last year, but no financial or business person came to our rescue. All we got were constant requests for our successful lessons, from condos, old age homes, etc.

Miami Performing Arts Center
Volunteer at MPAC and Embark on an Exciting Adventure!

Miami Performing Arts Center
Miami Performing Arts Center

Central to the successful operation of any large performing arts center is a dedicated volunteers team, and Miami Performing Arts Center is already putting together a corps of hard-working, arts-loving individuals who will help the Center become one of the most important cultural institutions in the Americas. Volunteers will play a leading role in making MPAC a favorite venue for patrons to experience the finest performances from around the world. As the MPAC representatives with the most direct contact with audience members, volunteers will know first-hand what audiences are feeling and saying. That knowledge will be invaluable as the Center does everything it can to ensure that the time these patrons spend at the Center will be thrilling and memorable.  MPAC Volunteer Corps will be a true reflection of our wonderfully diverse community, composed of a wide variety of people with different backgrounds, assorted interests, and unique skills.

Opportunities for volunteering at the Center encompass many areas, from performing clerical duties in administrative offices during the day to ushering at performances in the evenings. MPAC will also be looking for volunteers to provide concierge services, edit and translate documents, greet visitors, check-in bags and umbrellas, serve on advocacy committees, and offer counseling and mentoring to other volunteers. In an international city such as Miami, knowing more than one language, while not a requirement for all volunteer positions, is especially helpful.

To find out more about the many opportunities for volunteering at MPAC, please contact Evelyn Gigiras at 305-579-7632 or volunteers@miamipac.org.

Mosaic Theatre

Artist Opportunity

Not-for-profit Music Organization Seeking Artwork
The Chopin Foundation of the US is a not-for-profit organization that presents an annual monthly concert series called the Chopin Festival, the majority of which is presented free to the general public in both Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The Foundation is preparing to assemble the season brochure for the 2006-2007 Concert season.  The brochure will be a folded 8.5 X 11 glossy brochure, with a cover that simply announces that this is the 2006-2007 season.  Last season, the cover design was graciously donated by artist Joanna Tyka (tykaart.com), and 5,000 copies were distributed throughout South Florida, with her name credited on the brochure.

We cannot pay for the use of the artwork, but for a young artist who is looking to build a portfolio, and gain exposure, it’s a terrific opportunity.  You can also lend a hand to maintaining a creative image for a not-for-profit.  We are looking for artwork (painting, photography, photographed sculpture, or another medium that can be turned into a jpeg image) that clearly reflects the theme of classical piano, young pianists and classical piano, or Frederick Chopin.

Visit chopin.org to send us an e-mail.  Let us see what you have.
