Opportunities come and go in the blink of an
eye. Oftentimes we see them and grab fast, or
watch them go flying by for someone else to
have.
Elliott Hester and Kathie Klarreich, two Miami
residents, took advantage of what was placed in
front of them: to pack up and explore the
unfamiliar.
Hester, after selling his apartment and
everything it contained, left South Florida to
travel the world, one small country at a time. He
experienced the ups and downs of being a
'continental drifter,' which he documents in his
new book, Adventures of a Continental
Drifter. |

As the fall season of the arts shifts into high
gear, two Miami dance companies, Momentum Dance
Company and Miami Contemporary Dance Company,
begin their seasons with premieres exploring
unusual themes and current events.
At Miami
Contemporary Dance Company, artistic director Ray
Sullivan's choreograghy explores heartbreak and
hope with Asiasong On Our Soil , his
artistic response to the tsunamis in Asia as well
as Hurricane Katrina. At Momentum Dance Company,
new pieces about a journey and the beauty of the
pregnant body by artistic director Delma Iles join
with old favorites to create a varied season.
