Arts Opportunities
Local organizations seek performers, paid staff and volunteers

Calling all arts lovers—that’s the rallying cry among local arts organizations. Film festivals, arts festivals, music festivals, theatres—it seems everybody’s looking for help these days.

If you love the arts, volunteering affords you with an ideal opportunity to immerse yourself in that world, have some fun, meet great people who share your interests and help out a great organization.

And if you’re a performer, there are also audition opportunities at area theatres for upcoming shows. Check out the opportunities below.

Auditions
Promethean Theatre

The Promethean Theatre is holding non-equity auditions for its April production of Blue/Orange by Joe Penhall, directed by Margaret M. Ledford. Auditions will take place at the GableStage

Theatre in the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables on Monday, January 16, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with callbacks Tuesday, January 17. Casting the following roles: Christopher: African-American male 20's-30's; Bruce: Male 20's-30's; Robert: Male 30's-50's. Please prepare one 2-minute contemporary monologue with a British accent. (Accent is required.) Bring a headshot and résumé. Auditions will be held at GableStage Theatre, 1200 Anastasia Ave. Coral Gables. Theatre League South Florida
The Theatre League South Florida Annual Unified Auditions will take place on February 13 at the Hollywood Playhouse. For all the info you need, visit www.theatreleague.net. and click on Auditions. Please read everything carefully. There are links to our membership application and to the application for audition in the website. Call Dolores at 305-655-3446 if you need help. Please do not forget to send in 40 copies of your picture with your résumé attached to the back with either staples or glue. Remember: All material must be three -hole punched (including pictures).

Byron Carlyle, Colony Theatre
Ushers and Ticket Takers
SMG Management is looking for ushers and ticket takers for all events at the Byron Carlyle Theater and the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. Be part of a great management team. These are paid positions. City Theatre, Summer Shorts
Props Coordinator

City Theatre is seeking props coordinator May 1 - May 31 and July 9-10 for Summer Shorts 2006, to provide rehearsal and show props for two full length programs, containing approximately 18 short 10-minute plays. Will work closely with Festival Artistic Coordinator J. Barry Lewis and set designer Michael Amico, as well as the various festival directors. Responsibilites include both hand props and all furniture pieces not attached to the set. Seeking self-motivated, creative individuals who can work within a limited design budget and compact amount of time. Building skills a plus. Music Fest Miami
Music Fest Miami is a cultural organization that promotes diversity and Miami’s particular regional traditions through the production of a variety of arts and music events, as well as educational activities. We are currently seeking two people to work on our upcoming "Discover Miami" cultural festival, which is an all-day multi-site event. Please see our website, www.musicfestmiami.com, for more information. Both are full-time, contracted, consultant positions that cover an approximately 15-week period. Project Manager
This person will work directly with the event producer/programmer to manage all aspects of this complex festival. Previous experience in arts administration, event production, and working with diverse groups is a requirement. Applicant should be Windows proficient (Word and Excel required, Filemaker Pro desirable); bi- or multi-lingual skills a plus—excellent spoken and written business English an absolute must. The ideal person would be a very organized, detailed-oriented self-starter and a multi-tasker able to work collaboratively in a small staff environment. Familiarity with Miami’s arts and culture landscape and the diverse communities of South Florida desirable. Salary commensurate with experience.

Administrative Assistant
This person works for the whole organization, providing overall administrative and project support. Applicant must be a strong typist, Windows proficient (Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro and Quickbooks ideal) and bi- or multi-lingual preferably—excellent spoken and written business English an absolute must. We are looking for person who is organized and detailed-oriented, and works well under pressure. Someone with an interest in and enthusiasm for the arts who wants exposure to the non-profit cultural world would be a great fit. Compensation appropriate for administrative assistant position.

Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival
Senior Box Office Assistant
This is a full-time, temporary contract position requiring a 40-hour week commitment until April 30, 2006. The Senior Box Office Assistant works directly to assist the festival coordinator with ticket/box office sales. He/she will also assist the festival officers with general office duties. The ideal candidate should be a highly personable and outgoing individual with an enthusiastic and inclusive attitude. He/she should also be proficient at staying organized and focused and be detail-orientated. This person should have excellent verbal and written English skills, and be able to communicate effectively through on the telephone. Fluency in Spanish will be considered a major advantage.
