Calling All Playwrights
Creative Arts Enterprises is looking for
plays for its fifth annual Lavender Footlights Festival,
a festival of play readings of gay and lesbian-themed
work. Past years have
included pieces by noted playwrights such as Ricky J.
Martinez, Hal Corey, Michael McKeever,
Aoise Stratford, Tracy Winston and
Claudia Allen. The festival has also included many
pieces by artists new to the writing field. The plays
have been staged as readings directed and acted by a
virtual who’s who of South Florida theatre. Areas of
special interest are plays that support sexual and
cultural diversity, and plays that deal with issues not
commonly dealt with, such as aging and domestic
violence. Send one copy of your play plus a one page
synopsis for full-length plays and a cover letter with
return address and contact info to: Lavender Footlights
Festival, 59 NE 46 St., Miami, FL 33137, or
e-mail submissions to
submissions@caemia.org. Submissions must be
received by December 31. For more info, visit
