The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Lake Worth Playhouse Seeks Performers for The Rocky Horror Show
The Lake Worth Playhouse will hold auditions for Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show May 21 and 22, with call-back auditions only on May 23.  The show will open on July 13 and potentially run for six weeks.   It is required that those who audition must sing and dance.  Please have 16 bars of a song prepared, and bring either sheet music or a CD for accompaniment.  A dance routine will be provided.  Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.  You must be present on May 21 and 22.  The 23 is strictly for call-back auditions and we will not see any new auditions that day.  The Rocky Horror Show, which has rarely been produced in South Florida, has grown from an experimental production originally produced in a small London theatre to a cult phenomenon with fans world-wide.  For more information please call Jodie at 561-586-6169, Ext. 204.

New Theatre Seeks Performers for Summer Shakespeare Festival
New Theatre continues to move through Shakespeare’s cannon this summer by staging productions of Cymbeline,  Julius Caesar, and adding George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan into its intense summer repertory company.  The theatre is planning to employ a cast of 13 actors:  7 Equity, 3 non-Equity, and 3 acting interns; the chosen company of 13 actors will work diligently together the whole summer under guidance of three very distinctive and talented directors.  Auditions will be held March 20, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Actors auditioning must bring their updated headshot/resume; prepare one Shakespeare monologue, and one Shaw monologue.  Each actor auditioning will be provided with a 5 minute time slot in which they’ll perform their monologues and may be asked specific questions by the Artistic Director Ricky J. Martinez, who will be in attendance.  All members of Actors’ Equity receive priority first choice on audition time slots.  Professional business attire is strongly requested; please, no jeans, shorts, or sandals.  All ages, races, and genders are encouraged to audition.

Jeremiah Theatricals Seeks Performers
Jeremiah Theatricals is seeking performers for Mendel & Moses, an original award-winning musical dramatizing the biblical exodus from Egypt. Character actors of all sizes, shapes, ages 18 and up, and all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Almost all cast members will perform at least two roles, and must dance or move well. Edge Theatre
The Edge Theatre will hold auditions for Jim Tommaney's comedy South Beach, which will be performed in April at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.  Auditions will be held at  ArtServe, 1350 E. Carnival Center Seeks Artist Submissions for Miami Made
Carnival Center for the Performing Arts’ commissioning program Miami Made, which was launched in 2005 as INCUBATOR, is calling for new proposals from South Florida artists interested in extending the boundaries of the performing arts by creating, writing, composing, or choreographing a new work that may be supported by and performed at Carnival Center. As part of Miami Made Phase 1, artists living and working in South Florida are invited to submit proposals for new works in any area of the performing arts, including mixed media, with preference given to those that extend beyond current artistic practices and incorporate new technology. Projects may be of any scale and suitable for either indoors or outdoors, although in developing their concepts, artists should take into account the range of venues and other spaces at the Center (visit carnivalcenter.org for details). E-zine Seeks Short Fiction by South Florida Writers
MiamiARTzine.com is currently seeking submissions of unpublished short fiction. Any South Florida writer is encouraged to submit their work. MiamiARTzine.com is presented by the Miami Beach Arts Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising the awareness of the arts in South Florida and nurturing the voices of those involved in the arts. That said, we cannot pay monetarily, but writers would have a chance to have their work seen by our 4,000-plus subscribers and count it as a publication credit.

Guidelines:
The submission process is open to residents of South Florida

Stories should be 3,000 words or less

Stories must be sent as an rtf (rich text format) attachment in 12pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced, with one inch margins and the words "Fiction Submission" in the subject line

As MiamiARTzine.com is open to anyone who subscribes or logs on, stories must not have any graphic sex or excessive profanity

Writers should include a brief, 100 word publication history/bio
Writers must include name, address and phone number for contact purposes

Writers needed for MiamiARTzine.com.  We need writers who are interested in covering the Miami/South Florida arts scene. We're eager to cover people and events that don't get as much coverage as well as the big splashy arts events. This is a perfect opportunity for journalism students and up and coming writers to increase their portfolios, get experience, have their work be seen and make contacts. We need people who can write with some flair, who are punctual, who communicate with their editor, who answer e-mails promptly, and who can turn around a story in 7-10 days. The ability to take and transmit digital photos is a plus. Writers should have a working knowledge of the arts and be comfortable with interviews. Writers are always encouraged to pitch stories that would fit the target and mission of the e-zine. Please, please, please: Only reply if you're serious about your work. We don’t have time to deal with writers who wouldn't know a deadline if it bit them and who don't contact their editor when a story falls through. We’re only interested in working with writers who understand and practice professionalism. Volunteers Needed to Review Grant Applications
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is seeking individuals interested in reviewing applications for cultural grants funding from Miami-Dade County. Each year, the Department of Cultural Affairs relies on the services of many volunteers panelists, who review and evaluate grant applications and make funding recommendations.  Panels are comprised of artists, art-related professionals, educators, community members, business leaders and others with current or prior active involvement in the arts, such as board members of cultural organizations. Panelists help maintain a fair and open process and assist in the continuous development of Miami-Dade County's artistic and cultural communities by bringing their expertise to the review panel process. All panels meetings are open to the public.

Panelist Profile
Prospective panelist should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:
-  Knowledge of and familiarity with Miami-Dade County's non-profits arts community
-  Artistic experience in an arts discipline (music, theater, visual arts, etc.) as a creator,
   administrator, board member and/or general supporter of the arts
-  Experience in non-profit sector or arts management, including but not limited to, organizational
   planning and management, finance and accounting, development & fundraising or marketing
-  Arts Education

Experience with cultural facilities and venues (acquisition, building, renovation, management) as an architect, contractor, builder, operations/programming manager and/or owner.

How much time does panel service take?
This depends on the particular panel and number of applications received. Panelist are required to attend an orientation session after which they will take the grants package home to review. Most Department meetings span one business day and may involve a substantial time commitment to read orientation materials and review pre-score grant applications prior to the panel meeting.
