A Bang For Your Buck
Buck 15, Where to Go to Remain Incognito

By Verena Faden

Buck 15 club-goer Angela Granese
Buck 15 club-goer Angela Granese reinvents art appreciation

It’s Friday night, and you don’t want to be scrutinized in the velvet rope line, fuss with getting on a guest list or pay a tremendous cover when you’re enough of a seasoned club goer to know that you’ll probably spend enough on liquor to forget your name and go incognito.

Whether you're a girl who just wants to have fun, a dude who wants to snag some digits, a super freak, or girls who are boys who like boys to be girls, Buck 15 has got you covered.  It’s the place to be if you want to avoid running into any of your friends from high school or the ‘burbs.

Buck 15 is a unique gallery and lounge located upstairs from the Miss Yip restaurant that curates new art monthly and displays it on the walls. Filled with relics of the past and hip findings of the future, Yip’s extensive toy collection is also on display for your viewing pleasure.

For the rhythmically challenged, the couches are reminiscent of a ’70’s “Wonder Years” make-out party turned deco funky. If you shake it like a Polaroid picture, DJs like Ryan Evans will appease you. On Friday nights he plays a little something for everyone---’80’s, electro, hip hop, pop and rock.  Wednesdays caters to old-school hip-hop and Friday and Saturday is such an easy-going mix of retro meets mainstream so that you can bring your friends from out of town or your boyfriend who doesn’t dance.

If you head straight to the bar on arrival like I do, you won’t be sorry.  You rarely have to wait in a long line or press anything against the bar for attention.  The bartenders are cute and friendly, as is the crowd.  You can take a pee pee without dealing with toilet paper getting stuck to your shoe or getting the plague.

If you want to have a stress free night where you can meet locals or tourists and have a good time without worrying about whether he’ll call or that you hope he loses your number. If you take advantage of Buck 15, don’t abuse your privileges, at 707 Lincoln Lane, you know it gets ruined when too many people find out about it.  Make sure it stays the same.
