How did you get interested in photography?
I forgot.

You're an actor as well as a photographer, and you take production photos for many South Florida theatres.  How did you get started in production photos?
Through my acting interests.

What came first: Your interest in theatre or photography?
They're born of the same seed.

What are the special challenges in shooting a theatrical production?
Getting the most out of the lighting and catching the moment. Seeing the most interesting part of a tableau, and doing it all at the same time.

What does getting the perfect shot mean to you?
Happiness.

Do you feel a certain responsibility in knowing that your photos are presenting a company or production to the public?
I don't think about it. I just try to always do my best. I can't do any better than that. Guilt-free photography.

Do you still get a kick from seeing your work included in an article or review about a company?
Sure I do.

What other kinds of photography do you do?
For that answer you should visit my website. I'm multi-motivated. schiavonephoto.com

What do you think of the way the South Florida arts scene has evolved over the years?
I'm most impressed by the growth in theatre arts, not only by volume but by quality.

What’s the best part of working in the South Florida arts community?
Like most things, that's over-determined. The climate, the friends, the pace and the discovery of so much local talent.

What upcoming productions will you be involved with?

Talk Radio, September 13 to October 7
Guest Artist, November 29 to December 23
