“There I go, there I go, there I go!” And off we went on a 90 minute journey that Universes,
a New York based theater company brought to Miami Beach by Miami Light Project,
guided us through and it was not to be missed.
Whether it was poetry, Spanish boleros, Jazz or Gospel
these fantastic performers moved each and every person in the audience, myself
included. Whether it was clapping hands, singing along or tapping feet, there
wasn’t an individual that stayed still.
The solos were wonderful and the collective pieces even
more so. When they dedicated a piece to survivors of Hurricane Katrina and
storms everywhere, as they acknowledged the not too long ago experiences of many
here in South Florida, it was soul stirring.
Though I hadn’t heard of them before, I can tell you I will never forget them
and can’t wait for the next time they come through. A special note of thanks
and appreciation to Beth Boone and everyone at Miami Light Project, for
everything they do but especially for introducing us to Universes.
