Sculpture by Evan Penny called Panagiota

If you had any doubt that a picture speaks a thousand words, check out this photo. Is this the result of Art Basel addiction? Has she OD’d on art? Has she partied her pretty little head clean off? We think it’s the perfect metaphor for the crazy, dizzying madness we call Art Basel. Actually, it’s a stunning sculpture by Evan Penny called Panagiota, and was exhibited at Art Basel. The name is from the Greek, and means “all holy,” and we think it’s the ultimate commentary on the art fair that ate Miami. We bet that a lot of art lovers—you perhaps—who braved the crowds and did Art Basel and the many other art fairs looked a lot like this, at least on the inside. Not to worry. You’ve got plenty of time to get your head together before it all comes roaring back. Until next year, Art Basel, until next year.
