As a Jersey girl, I was thrilled to attend the Jersey Boys sneak preview last Monday night, presented by Broadway Across America. Radio legend Rick Shaw emceed the evening and conducted a Q&A with Jonathan Hadley and Bucktash Hujabre the two Jersey Boys actors who flew in from the show’s national tour in Toronto. The jukebox musical, which tells the story of the Four Seasons, is currently one of the most success show around, with four separate companies portraying the story of four working class, blue collar guys from the wrong side of the tracks who found success with a unique sound, flawless harmonies and a string of hit songs destined to become classics. Nostalgia reigned as the actors entertained the crowd with anecdotes about their experience in the show, how they got their roles, and what it’s like to meet the real-life legends portrayed in the musical. Jersey Boys doesn’t begin its month-long stay in Fort Lauderdale until April 8, but it is the jewel in the crown of the 2008-2009 Broadway touring season, so it’s never to early to start spreading the news. Also, the show is poised to sell out, and single tickets don’t go on sale until December, so if you want to see it, walk like a man, fast as you can, and grab a subscription to the season, because that’s the only way guarantee yourself a seat.
