The Adrienne Arsht Center is awarding $1,000 to Miami-based artists to create new works of dance, music, theater, spoken word and other performing arts that capture our community’s unique voice and experience during this unprecedented time.

These works will be part of the center's new Heart of Art online commissioning program - the first online commissioning program in Miami-Dade County created to inspire new work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Artists are invited to submit two-minute video proposals, with the next deadline for submissions on Aug. 21, 2020.

The new video works will be showcased on the Arsht Center’s website and promoted across the Center’s social media platforms and in the Arsht@Home e-newsletter.

Artists, get working. The next submission deadline is just around the corner.

“Through this first-of-its-kind project, the Arsht Center seeks to engage and connect people from every corner of our Miami community through artistic expression and inspiring cultural experiences, which are needed more than ever in this time of isolation,” said Johann Zietsman, Arsht Center president and CEO. “The arts can heal, unite, provide much-needed escape and help us process what is happening. It is important that we support artists in their greatest time of need and encourage them to keep creating.”

Heart of Art is supported by TD Charitable Foundation and the Community Recovery Fund at The Miami Foundation.
