Miami based 21st century rock band Message to Venus is on the verge of releasing its first full-length album, “Victims and Villains” and is looking for help to do it. They have created an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for publicity efforts, touring, and recording a music video for the first single from “Villains.” So far, the foursome has raised $6,685 of their $10,000 goal.
They’re sweetening the pot for anyone who contributes with perks, (the more unique of which range from a companion comic book drawn by the members of Venus to a dog tag necklace with the band logo). With 17 days left in the campaign, there’s still plenty of time.
The band’s last album, 2011’s EP “The Envelope”, brought them national acclaim from acts such as Godsmack and Halestorm as well as weekly spins on SiriusXM station Octane and cable channel MusicChoice. The single, “Universal You”, was featured in the movie “The Witness (El Testigo)”. They were also nominated for a Latin Rock award in 2012 and participated in the International Day of Non-Violence, a day dedicated to “disseminat[ing] the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness” since it’s celebrated on Mahatma Ghandi’s birthday. All of this helped them build a great relationship with their fans, who, through a 2013 crowdfunding campaign, helped Message to Venus fund their tour. The band has continued to take care of their fans, posting a teaser for “Villains” on YouTube as well as one of the songs off “Villains”, “Hollow” on their Indiegogo page.
From the “Victims and Villains Indiegogo Campaign” press release:
“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The same applies to an album that goes unheard. And we want to be heard! That’s why we’ve decided to make our new album available to you, our closest fans, in advance of the official release date."
Message to Venus’ Indiegogo campaign ends on August 30 with “Villains” becoming available to contributors on September 1. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see when they might be coming to a city near you!
