Mention the Buena Vista Social Club and fond memories come to mind.

NPR called the musicians, who formed in Havana in 1996, an "unlikely group of stars."

When Buena Vista Social Club's debut album was released in 1997, it put the musicians on a trajectory to become one of the most transcendental and important groups on the island of Cuba.

Made up of so many talented musicians and singers Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, Pio Leyva, Eliades Ochoa, Juan de Marcos González, Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal, Barbarito Torres, "Cachaito" López, Rubén González, among others, it was legendary.

The Buena Vista All Stars, featuring Ibrahim Ferrer Jr., Danay Suárez and a host of other musicians, take audiences on an unforgettable journey through Cuba's rich musical history.

With a kickoff concert at the Adrienne Arsht Center's Knight Concert Hall on Saturday, Aug. 5, some of the heirs and successors of the legendary ensemble will pay respect to the people who gave life and voice to iconic songs that crossed borders.

The Buena Vista All Stars, on its Una Noche en La Habana tour, bring the memories back to life.

A holographic projection of the Buena Vista Social Club lets us not forget the legendary Cuban founder and creator Ibrahim Ferrer's golden voice with the live talent of his son Ibrahim Ferrer Jr.

There will be original members of Buena Vista Social Club, such as Grammy Award winner and conductor Juan De Marcos González; lute master Barbarito Torres; piano prodigy Rubencito González, son of virtuoso Rubén González; and as special guests four-time Latin Grammy nominee Danay Suarez; one of the founders of the Cha-cha-chá rhythm Alberto Bermúdez; and also the exquisite voice of Latin American jazz, Elizabeth Meza. The whole ensemble is under the musical direction of Cuban maestro Julio Quevedo and orchestrated by the multi-awarded grand maestro Demetrio Muñiz.

Producers Ibrahim Ferrer Jr. and Ivan Gianni promise an "unforgettable musical journey" for audiences, they say. "We're traveling from the streets of Havana to the stage of the Knight Concert Hall for a night full of enchanting rhythms and timeless narratives that will touch hearts around the world. It is an incredible opportunity to see the most relevant of Cuba's superstar artists."
