Join The Underline's first ever Artist-in-Residence, April Bey, for her Artist Talk + Bahamian Souse Out!

About the Work:This commissioned artwork reflects The Underline’s commitment to honoring and celebrating the profound contributions of Bahamians to the founding, development, and vibrant cultural fabric of Miami. The project recognizes the enduring influence of the Little Bahamas community and pays tribute to generations whose labor, traditions, and cultural heritage helped shape the city’s identity.The artist will present her project, Atlantican Opulencescapes: Portals and the Ritual of Waiting in Line for Hot Patty, during a public artist talk followed by a Souse Out (light brunch). Traditional Bahamian dishes, including chicken souse and Johnny cake, will be served complimentary to attendees. Guests are invited to visit the future site of the permanent installation, engage in conversation with the artist, and participate in this meaningful cultural gathering.
