Imagine telling your true story, out loud. On Saturday,Sept. 8,  at 8 p.m., at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in Wynwood, the Miami Book Fair presents "Lip Service: True Stories Out Loud," with local storytellers sharing their stories.

Some of which are hilarious, heartbreaking, sometimes poignant, embarrassing, inspiring—
but all true.

South Floridians were invited to submit their stories, then ask to take the stage and share them. The them was their own true, personal story about “Craving with Consequences”

The theme?: the constant craving, wanton wanting, desperate desire, or abject addiction that taught you a lesson.

Eight storytellers have been selected:

  • Jeffrey Weinstock receives and indecent proposal on an Israeli gay dating site.
  • Maureen Fura's midlife crisis has her tapping into her wild side.
  • Margery Berger has her mind expanded at the headshrinker.
  • Marta Oppenheimer is Cursed In Love as she heads to a Hialeah botanica to prepare the perfect love potion.
  • Kimberley Mullins can’t stop looking for love in all the wrong places.
  • Terry DeMeo faces quality of death issues.
  • Kenneth Wright consults his favorite spirits—alcohol.
  • Doug Shear must go cold turkey on a childhood remedy with a not-so-secret ingredient.
