6th Annual Catwalk for Charity

Catwalk for Charity, the year’s most anticipated fashion fundraiser in South Florida returns for its sixth consecutive year! This prestigious annual event which boasts more than 400 of top designers, celebrities, tastemakers and philanthropists will take place on Sunday September 22nd, 2019 at the JW Marquis in Miami, FL. The event is hosted by Angels for Humanity, a Florida-based nonprofit organization, and benefits impoverished children in Haiti without access to quality education, medical, dental and vision care.

This year’s Fashion Show will feature Go-To Celebrity Designer Gustavo Cadile, personal designer to celebrities including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, Garcelle Beauvaisand Kim Kardashian. Returning hosts will be Three-Time Emmy Award Winning News Anchor, Calvin Hughes and Celebrity Actress and Producer Garcelle Beauvais.The Fashion Show Fundraiser will commence with a half-hour exclusive Red Carpet VIP reception, which will provide first accessto the highly anticipated silent auction and cocktails portion of the event, as well as front row seatsat the fashion show.

VIP Cocktail reception tickets are $300.General tickets are $250.

Jennifer Grim, Frost's new flute professor, performs a program of new music including Come Sunday, a piece co-commissioned by the Frost Wind Ensemble. Written by visiting composer Omar Thomas, the two-movement piece is a tribute to the Hammond organ's central role in black worship services. The other highlight of the program, Lontano, was once introduced by composer Michael Martin as signifying "the journey of grief, what that is, and how familiar that is to all of us."

Giancarlo Rodaz is the Associate Artistic Director for the Area Stage Company. He has been directing and designing productions at ASC for eleven years. Lighting design credits include: The Wizard of Oz RSC, The Little Mermaid, She Kills Monsters, Cabaret, Shrek the Musical, Ride, The Nether (Carbonell Nominated; Best Lighting Design). ASC directing credits include: The Wizard of Oz RSC, The Little Mermaid, She Kills Monsters, Shrek the Musical, and Ride. Art Exhibition: Green by Moira Holohan

Moira Holohan's exhibition Green involves the use of woven meditative practice while exploring virtual time and space. Through a series of hand woven screens with hemp and bamboo cord Holohan investigates chroma key compositing, better known as green screen, as a playful subjective color and area which can exist as a pictorial organic object and/or a portal to a virtual transient site. The exhibition is along side the lush and vibrant vegetation of The Miami Beach Botanical Gardens further investigating the tension between the natural/real and virtual world.

Sagamore Hotel, the independently owned historic boutique hotel, known as "The Art Hotel," will breathe new life into its "Music is Life' exhibition showcasing a wide ensemble of artworks by well-known and emerging, international and local artists that span all media. In a remake aptly named "Remix," the exhibition, which has been inspired and is dedicated to music will be on view 24/7 from September 18, 2019 through November 30, 2019.

Contemporary Visions of the Industrial

The Frank presents New Industry: Contemporary Visions of the Industrial, an exhibition focused on industrial aesthetic, blurring the lines between fine art, mechanical design and fabrication while also challenging traditional artmaking materials and techniques.

The new exhibition will feature the work of five South Florida artists: Nestor Arenas, Yves Gabriel, Kx2, Devora Perez and Norman Silva.

Reception guests will enjoy a performance by top Miami rap artist and Pembroke Pines native, Sam Stan. The Third Space Gallery will feature an exhibition of artwork by the students of Fletcher Art & Cultural Center. This event is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Stonewall

The exhibition opening of Art after Stonewall, 1969 - 1989., coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, features more than 200 works of art and related visual materials that explore the profound impact of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ) liberation movement on visual culture.

The exhibition opened on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum.

The show continues through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.
