American Flag & Abstract Collection

Thursday, Jan 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM - English

Palm Beach Art, Antique and Design Showroom and The Gallery at Four India Street will be featuring renowned American Global Expressionist Artist: Giovanni DeCunto.

A unique collection of American Flag and dynamic abstracts that showcase a unique technique that he invented called “painting with light.” The powerful American Flag collection, which combines expressionistic, minimalism and pop art styles, serves as a symbol of unity and to remind us that, to move forward, we must always come together.

DeCunto’s dynamic abstracts present two different images depending on the kind of light reflected off the canvas. His unique painting with light technique produces various experiences of the same painting depending upon which light setting the piece is viewed under – whether it is natural or ultraviolet (UV light). When painting, he works in incandescent light and UV light, using a combination of acrylic paint with fluorescent paint to create different color reactions depending on the light source used to view the piece. Natural pigments will react to our natural light source, whereas fluorescent pigments absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it at a different wavelength making the light visible and the material appear to glow.

Art Exhibit: The Undercurrent by Gustavo Prado

Thursday, Jan 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM - English

The Undercurrent is a series of sculptural installations that aim to amplify and manipulate the spectator's field of vision. Made from concave and convex mirrors of many sizes that Prado attaches to industrial metal structures, the sculptures create something akin to an anti-camera that reconfigures the viewer's vantage point and amplifies notions of (dis)location.

Art Exhibit: Garden Vibrations by Sharon Swift

Thursday, Jan 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM - English

My exhibition, "Garden Vibrations" was inspired by identifying feelings a Botanical Garden evoke, particularly, the tropical nature of the plants. I was curious about the elements in planning a Botanical Garden, a man made design celebrating life, diversity and beauty of nature. The additional element of sharing a border with the Holocaust Memorial adds to the experience. One design is refined, minimal and elegant contrasts the Garden with its exuberance of color, shape, and style. This added a deeper element to my paintings which was thought provoking and meaningful.

New River Fine Art is pleased to announce Through the Looking Glass, a new collection of previously unreleased and trailblazing sculptural and two-dimensional artworks from contemporary artist, Hunt Slonem, debuting and running from January 22 - February 21, 2021 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Continuing in his bold and brilliant investigation of the world's flora and fauna, Slonem's groundbreaking metamorphic transformation gives birth to a wonderfully refreshing realm of casted bronze, blown glass, neon, and multimedia-based au-courant artistry. "This new body of work was born out of these unexpected times," said Slonem. "Given an opportunity to create work in an entirely new methodology, what has resulted is an artistic liberation of sorts. My established lexicon of forms has taken on new life in blown glass, in bronze, and other media, all in a visual culmination that is thrilling to me artistically. This moment in time has proven to be an impetus for an ever-expanding vocabulary of new work and I'm pleased to share it with you."

The artist's impressive career spanning almost five decades now enters a new phase of evolution. Disciplined, yet explosive in his use of color, his signature gestures are vibrantly raw and wild. Slonem uses his new mediums with the same deft hand that rocketed him into the coterie of New York art world luminaries in the 1970s. "This exhibition,Through the Looking Glass, is a first for Hunt. New River Fine Art is so proud and gracious to be selected to be the premier gallery to showcase the new collection of innovative artwork. For an international artist, who is widely revered in New York and across the globe, choosing Fort Lauderdale for this coveted launch is astonishing...with this decision, he is actively acknowledging the integrity and respectability of the South Florida Art Market, and spotlighting the vibrant and strong collector base that flourishes outside of New York," says Lisa Burgess, President of New River Fine Art.
