The 2021 Forward Motion Dance Festival & Conference

The third annual Forward Motion Physically Integrated Dance Festival & Conference will take place in Miami, FL, September 22-25, 2021 and feature four days of workshops, panel discussions and main stage performances at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium and Koubek Center-Miami Dade College, by Dancing Wheels Company, REVolutions Dance, AXIS Dance Company's Marc Brew, and Karen Peterson and Dancers. More than 20 dance artists who practice and perform inclusive dance will bring the best of their artistic visions to South Florida to engage dancers, and attract disability advocates and dance audiences alike.

The Miami Design District is pleased to welcome back Expressions for its highly anticipated fourth session, on Thursday, September 23rd and Friday, September 24th. Curated in collaboration with Istituto Marangoni, Expressions is a collection of talks, workshops and panel discussions aimed to encourage a series of thought-provoking and meaningful exchange of ideas. Led by local and international influencers and industry experts, the workshops will be held at Istituto Marangoni and the neighborhood's Palm Court Event Space. Bringing together an array of impactful brands and like-minded individuals, Expressions is an inspiring platform designed by the Miami Design District as it continues to play an integral part in Miami's ever-expanding cultural fabric.

The DownBeat Awarding-winning Frost Studio Jazz Band celebrates a pillar of South Florida's musical community, Melton Mustafa. His brother, South Florida Jazz Hall of Famer Jesse Jones Jr., and GRAMMY®-nominated Melton Mustafa Jr. join them. Mustafa Sr. played with Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman orchestras, wrote an expansive oeuvre of music reflecting his experiences, and later established the jazz program at the region's premier historically Black university, Florida Memorial University.

Shakespeare Is A White Supremacist

Main Street Players presents the final show of their 2021 season.
Shakespeare is a White Supremacist is a play exploring the experiences of people of color as they undergo rehearsals for A Midsummer Night's Dream. This script represents one piece and one iteration of a comprehensive, theatrical process.
The show runs from September 24 through October 17, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. *The matinee on October 10 is a private performance and is not open to the public. Ticket prices are $30 for adults and $25 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office one hour before showtime.

Guy Harvey's Underwater World Marine Art Exhibit

Strikingly beautiful, visually stunning scenes from marine expeditions around the world by renowned artist, conservationist, scientist and entrepreneur Dr. Guy Harvey are featured in a new exhibition on display at the Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA) Gallery in September.
Dr. Harvey is scheduled to attend the exhibition's opening reception on Friday, September 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. Much of the original artwork on display is from Guy Harvey's Underwater World, Dr. Harvey's fifth book and most recently released memoir. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The reception is free and open to the public and no reservation is required. For additional details, visit website or contact Email.
All 60 original art pieces on display, inspired by Dr. Harvey's expeditions in the Caribbean, the Americas and Australia, depict dramatic predator-prey interactions with large ocean fish including marlin, sharks and tunas. All artwork is available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds from sales benefiting ocean conservation research, education and conservation projects in Florida through the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
The MIFA gallery is located at 5900 NW 74th Ave. in Miami, and the Guy Harvey exhibition is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from September 3 through September 30.
