With each performance, stereotypical walls come tumbling down as Yonnet presents the harmonica in a refreshing and modern context. It’s stylish. It’s cool. It’s brilliant. His impressive style and electrifying stage presence have led to recordings, tours and performances with a wide range of musicians including Grammy Award winners and music icons Stevie Wonder and Prince, award-winning songwriter David Foster, UK sensation Ed Sheeran, pop-idols the Jonas Brothers, soul singers John Legend, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, John Mayer and India.Aire, as well as The National Symphony Orchestra and The Dayton Philharmonics. Rolling Stone magazine referred to Yonnet as “Prince’s killer harmonica player” and praise from other influencers affirm his mission to change the way music enthusiasts and the industry regard the “pocket” instrument.

Just listen to his sound. It funks. It rocks. It hips and hops. It grooves. It sways. It testifies. It prays. It has a reverence for gospel, blues and jazz while appealing to a generation bred on pop rock and hip-hop.

Citing Stevie Wonder as a mentor and friend, Yonnet was honored when Wonder tapped him to perform harmonica parts on the Songs in the Key of Life Performance Tour, 2014-15. Wonder performed the entire double album as part of the 43-city tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of the most critically acclaimed album of his career. On the tunes, “Have a Talk with God” and “Mama’s Call”, Yonnet demonstrates his mastery of the diatonic harmonica by expertly mimicking the chromatic melody Wonder originally performed on the studio album. “He’s so good at playing harmonica that another man good at harmonica hired him,” said Dave Chappelle during an introduction of Yonnet.

This exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of Katz's style and his signature minimalistic aesthetic, while reflecting the artist's continued experimentation with form and color. The result is a curated exhibition that is timeless yet continuously feeling fresh and raw.

Over the course of his more than seven-decade career, this championed artist has created an impressive body of work that includes portraiture, landscapes, and still life. Nevertheless, many of his most iconic paintings feature his wife and muse, Ada. Recently, the artist has revisited some of his favorite paintings of his beloved spouse by creating ten new fine art prints that will be featured in New River Fine Art's Alex Katz - In Good Company exhibition.

"In Good Company features both new prints and a host of works from Katz's archives", stated Lisa Burgess, President of New River Fine Art. "His iconic style, stripped of all but the most essential elements, was once criticized as too simplistic but is now being reexamined and finding new appreciation among critics in light of his Guggenheim retrospective."

New River Fine Art's exhibition, Alex Katz - In Good Company, will briefly coincide with The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum exhibition, Alex Katz: Gathering, a career retrospective on view from October 21, 2022, through February 20, 2023.

"The fact that Katz is 95 years old and still producing artwork at such a high caliber is a testament to his creative drive," said Wissam Elghoul, Gallery Director.

"These are some of the finest prints I've seen in years." Alex Katz - In Good Company is sure to delight both longtime fans of Katz's work and those just discovering his unique vision.

More about Alex Katz:Alex Katz is an American painter and sculptor whose works are immediately recognizable by their colorful, two-dimensional style, which was created as a reaction to the Abstract Expressionism of the 1950s. Katz's art is often described as minimalistic, due to his use of simple shapes and flat colors. However, despite its apparent simplicity, Katz's work is quite complex. Through his choice of subject matter and composition, Katz can capture the essence of his subjects in a way that is both beautiful and evocative. In addition to his paintings, Katz has also produced many sculptures showcasing this recognizable aesthetic. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, and he has received many prestigious awards. Today, Alex Katz is widely regarded as one of the most important American artists of the twentieth century.

Shops at Merrick Park, known for its pristine outdoor shopping with lush green spaces and a fine collection of retailers in the heart of Coral Gables, will be the perfect backdrop for the world- famous Los Trompos art exhibition created by Mexican designers Hector Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena. This interactive vibrant outdoor display will make its South Florida debut from January 31 through February 28.

"Los Trompos," which means "spinning tops" in Spanish, is a traveling exhibit that has been displayed in cities around the world, including Mexico City, Paris, and New York. The lively installation will feature eight larger-than-life, three-dimensional colorful spinning tops in a variety of colors and shapes that invite visitors to play and engage with the art. The art draws its inspiration from a toy that has been popular with children around the world since the dawn of time.

The colorful surfaces of each top are created, in part, by fabric woven in a traditional Mexican style. The fabric is stretched over the modules to seat several people at once. Functioning as both artwork and a rotating platform, each sculpture acts as a gathering place for relaxation, social interaction and entertainment.

This large-scale, artistic installation engages visitors in a way that is both meaningful and playful. By working together to create momentum, visitors can spin the tops on their bases.Los Trompos was first commissioned by High Museum of Arts, Atlanta. Owners of Los Trompos are DTE Energy Beacon Park Foundation and The Downtown Detroit Partnership. The tour producer is Creos.

Los Trompos at Shops at Merrick Park is free to attend (no ticket required). Visitors are encouraged to take the tops for a spin, sit back and relax, or pose for the perfect photo opportunity. The exhibit is suitable for all ages.

Any way you spin it... you won't want to miss this! For more information visit website.
