Miami City Ballet Pops Up Around the Magic City

Series of Outdoor Performances Begin Jan. 30 and run through February

Michelle F. Solomon

Fresh from its the outdoor "Nutcracker" ballet in Downtown Doral Park, Miami City Ballet is taking dance outside again and, as they say, "coming to a neighborhood near you."

Beginning next Saturday, Jan. 30 through Feb. 22, MCB's "To Miami With Love" will be pop-up performances presented at iconic locations in and around the city.

While most of the performances are free, in order to also support some of Miami's institutions, pop ups at places like Fairchild Botanical Garden and Vizcaya require a museum admission fee, which gives visitors and opportunity to explore some of the city’s most revered outdoor attractions.

Each new work is choreographed and performed by MCB dancers.

Genres, of course, include classical ballet, but also have performances from modern to flamenco and more.

According to the ballet, "The movement and the music come together to reflect and relish the unique favors of Miami."

The performances are free, however, those with an asterisk require an entrance fee. Double asterisk is admission free, but RSVP required.
