As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Night at the Sir John’s Knight Beat honors the venues and visionaries who shaped American jazz during segregation. This immersive cultural tribute celebrates Sam Rabin of The Sir John Hotel and legendary impresario Clyde Killens, whose leadership sustained a vibrant entertainment legacy. Curated by Daniel Washington and the Idyllic Funk Band, the program uplifts historic Chitlin’ Circuit spaces where icons like Art Blakey, Miles Davis, and Billie Holiday helped define America’s sound. The evening features live music and a curated exhibit.
