'Hamilton' Heads To FLL

'Dear Evan Hansen' Also Tops Broadway In Fort Lauderdale Season

"Hamilton," that mega selling, can't-get-a-ticket Broadway musical is coming to Fort Lauderdale, along with the other Tony Award winning smash Dear Evan Hansen.

How to get a ticket you might ask? Buy the season. Hey, it's probaby cheaper than getting a "Hamilton" ticket on Broadway.

In a press release announcement, the producers of the 2018-2019 Bank Of American Broadway in Fort Lauderdale season said "Hamilton" was part of a six or seven show subscription series.

"Hamilton" will play for a limited five week run December 18, 2018 – January 20, 2019.

"Dear Evan Hansen" visits March 26 – April 7, 2019.

Featuring the Broadway classics “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and “To Life,” "Fiddler on the Roof," (Feb 20 – Mar 3, 2019) will introduce a new generation to this uplifting celebration that raises its cup to life, love and laughter. The romantic and adventure-filled new musical "Anastasia" comes to Fort Lauderdale  April 23 to May 5, 2019., And Broadway’s hit crowd-pleaser "A Bronx Tale" arrives June 11 to 23.

Additional musicals include Rodgers & Hammerstein’s "The King and I" (Nov. 20–Dec. 2, 2018), the “breathtaking and exquisite” (The New York Times) musical, based on the 2015 Tony Award®-winning Lincoln Center Theater production. Back by popular demand, Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s  "The Phantom of the Opera," (Oct. 10 – 21, 2018) is an optional seventh subscription show.

Season tickets for the 2018/2019 Bank of America Broadway in Fort Lauderdale six-show package are currently available and range from *$261 - $1,002. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will make a triumphant return to Fort Lauderdale as part of its North American Tour. Critics are raving that this breathtaking production is “bigger and better than ever before” and features a brilliant new scenic design by Paul Brown, Tony Award®-winning original costume design by Maria Björnson, lighting design by Tony Award®-winner Paule Constable, new choreography by Scott Ambler, and new staging by director Laurence Connor.

The production, overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh, boasts many exciting special effects including the show’s legendary chandelier. The beloved story and thrilling score - with songs like “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask Of You,” and “Masquerade” - will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this PHANTOM one of the largest productions now on tour.

The story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, "Hamilton"  is the story of America then, as told by America now.

With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, "Hamilton" is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

 

Fiddler On The Roof

February 20 – March 3, 2019

Tony Award winning director Bartlett Sher and the team behind South Pacific, The King and I and 2017 Tony-winning Best Play Oslo, bring a fresh and authentic vision to this beloved theatrical masterpiece from Tony winner Joseph Stein and Pulitzer Prize winners Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.

The original production won ten Tony Awards, including a special Tony for becoming the longest-running Broadway musical of all time. You’ll be there when the sun rises on this new production, with stunning movement and dance from acclaimed Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter, based on the original staging by Jerome Robbins.
