With Avo Miami, local resident and owner Dilo Murad presents a concept of healthfulness and freshness. A German Kurdish heritage provides a background that reflects itself in his traditional, yet contemporary, cuisine. Murad enlisted Yaniv Cohen, also known as “The Spice Detective,” to craft a menu that incorporates the health benefits of Mediterranean spices and herbs.

Avo Miami has indoor and outdoor seating that accommodates 50 guests. The interior of the restaurant is industrial chic, warm and conducive to conversation. The exterior expands into the street with wooden tables and umbrellas surrounding planters, which create a soothing patio environment.

By namesake, the menu revolves around the avocado, also known as an alligator pear or butter fruit. Signature toasts, breakfast items, house specialties, power bowls, and sides offer an array of choices. My visit with a lunch companion was a lovely experience where we dined at an outside table. The owner greeted us with a warm welcome.

Food is ordered at the counter and served to your table. Our server was attentive and committed to our needs.

My friend had the vegan falafel power bowl. Four falafel cakes are presented crispy with a pleasing texture, consistency, and savory flavor. The bowl is completed with basmati rice, Avo chutney, braised lentils, and an Avo tahini sauce all adding complementary zestiness.

I continued the theme with the Avo falafel sandwich abundantly served in pita, garnished with tomato and augmented with a piquant herbed avocado sauce. Crunchy seasoned fries embellished the plate.

Murad insisted we finish with dessert, and although we were both sated, we gave in to the chocolate mousse. Surprisingly made with avocado, one would never know as the predominant flavor was chocolate. The texture was creamy, silky and buttery smooth. The deliciousness was adorned with fresh strawberries.
