Peter Asher: Everywhere Man
Saturday, Jul 11, 2026 at 1:30 PM - English

The Legend Behind Music's Biggest Legends
SPECIAL GUEST Timothy LaRoque will perform music touched by the creativity of Peter Asher before the Sunday, July 12th at 7pm.
Peter Asher: Everywhere Man is a feature-length documentary inspired by musician, producer, and manager Peter Asher's celebrated cabaret show A Musical Memoir of the '60s and Beyond. Like his stage performance, the film traces an extraordinary life lived at the center of modern music history.
From his early years as a child actor in 1950s London to the Swinging Sixties, Asher emerges as a Zelig-like figure in the culture of the era: one half of the pop duo "Peter and Gordon," recipients of four chart-topping hits penned by Paul McCartney; the first head of A&R at Apple Records; and co-owner of the Indica Gallery, the epicenter of London's countercultural art scene.

Orchestra Miami’s Saturdays at Trinity Chamber Music Series concludes this month with Neue Musik: Art Nouveau Music in Germany & Austria. Performed in the historic sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Downtown Miami, this concert features the outstanding musicians of Orchestra Miami performing music by Alban Berg, Carl Fruhling, Alma Mahler, and Gustav Mahler.
This concert, performed on Saturday, July 11th at 7 PM, focuses on the “New Music” of Germany and Austria. Often perceived as "radical" or "avant garde", the music of the early 1900’s searches for new sounds and new forms of compositions, while still maintaining influences of lush romanticism from the earlier eras. The program includes the rarely heard Piano Quartet in A Minor by Gustav Mahler. Composed when Mahler was a student, this is the only surviving example of Mahler’s chamber music compositions. Another rarity will be the Clarinet Trio in A Minor, Op. 40 by Carl Fruhling. The trio is one of Fruhling’s few surviving works- it is thought that much of his legacy was almost completely erased by the Nazi regime as Fruhling was a Jew. With its lush writing for piano, the Trio has influences of Brahms and Wagner yet also has elements of traditional Austrian folk dance and religious chant. It is a beautiful work that deserves to be heard frequently.
The art of the German Lied is represented by three very different composers. Pianist and composer Alma Mahler was eclipsed by her more famous husband, Gustav (who discouraged her compositional efforts). A student of Alexander Zemlinskky, the Funf Lieder are harmonically complex, creating gorgeous sonic colors and breaking boundaries with her compositional choices. Gustav Mahler is very well-known for his large-scale symphonic works. In this performance, we will hear two of his more intimate works, Wer hat dies Liedlein gedacht and Rheinlegendchen from the Wunderhorn songs. Alban Berg, a student of Arnold Schunberg, is known for his 12-tone compositions, most notably his operas Lulu and Wozzeck. His early songs still have resonances of romanticism. On this program, we will hear threw of his Sieben Fruelieder, Nacht, Die Nachtigall and Im Zimmer.
The performers include some of Orchestra Miami’s finest musicians- Mei Mei Luo, violin; Gregory Falkenstein, viola; Christopher Glansdorp, Cello; Ashley Garritson, cello and Richard Hancock, clarinet. Joining them will be Mezzo-SopranoErika Vasallo and Soprano Dalila Lugo alongside Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi at the piano.Admission is Pay-What-You-Wish basis starting at just $5, or you can reserve a front row seat for just $30! You are invited to join a wine and bubbly reception with the artists following the performance.

Abstraction as Legacy
Saturday, Jul 11, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM - English

Part document, part subjective storytelling, visual art illustrates and offers nuance to significant moments in U.S. history. From portraits of well-known leaders to history paintings that speak to the sacrifice and strength of the American people, the power of paint to render subjects remains unquestionable.
The act of painting can also make history. Through hard edges and expressive forms, American artists re-imagined painting and used abstraction as a mechanism to consider the human body, natural environs, architecture, emotion, and an economy of line.

This exhibition is not meant to be exhaustive but intended to highlight the breadth of painterly abstraction in the United States. Following the 1950s, it became clear that the art world turned to the U.S. for ingenuity and boundary-breaking abstract art forms. From trends that arose in Havana and made it to the U.S. through exile to experiments developed in New York and Los Angeles, the legacy of American abstraction evolves as rich and varied. The featured artists include Young-Il Ahn, Sam Gilliam, Carmen Herrera, Hans Hofmann, Virginia Jaramillo, Lloyd Kiva New, William de Kooning, George Morrison, Noemi Ruiz, Zilia Sanchez, and Vaughn Spann.
On July 4, 2026, the U.S. commemorates and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic milestone offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on this nation's past, honor the contributions of Americans, and to look ahead toward the future we aspire to create for the next generation and beyond. The legacy of painterly abstraction in the U.S. offers a distinctive way to celebrate the creativity and innovation that defines the American spirit.

Riddims of Graffiti: A Solo Exhibition by Izia Lindsay
Saturday, Jul 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM - English

Opening Reception
DVCAI at Barry University presents Riddims of Graffiti, a solo exhibition featuring Izia Lindsay, MFA, Assistant Professor of Art at Augustana University. The exhibition opens May 14, 2026 and runs through August 22, 2026. Lindsay is a mixed media artist working across digital and traditional processes. His work draws on Caribbean iconography rooted in tradition and reimagined through contemporary ideas to create layered visual narratives that reflect on identity and class in a post-colonial society. Free and open to the public.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Izia Lindsay is a mixed media artist who works across digital and traditional media to create bold, multi-layered visual stories. Grounded in Caribbean iconography and shaped by contemporary ideas, his work explores identity and class in a post-colonial society drawing from material culture, indigenous histories, lived traditions, and the ever-changing landscape of the Caribbean.Known for geometric forms and dynamic compositions, Lindsay builds what he describes as a kind of “controlled naturalism,” where lines and shapes intersect, overlap, and hold multiple meanings at once. The result is a cultural narrative that reflects the dualities of a turbulent, cosmopolitan Caribbean life.
